Science Select
Our Philosophy for Teaching  Science
Philosophy
Carol Daniels and Carolyn Hopper are the authors of Science Select, third, fourth and fifth grade science curricula.
The authors' goal is to address the needs of elementary science teachers by providing them with a comprehensive and
sequential program for the entire school year.  Daily lesson plans that foster critical thinking and problem solving are
key components of this program, along with a combination of theory and laboratory investigations.  It is their belief
that, in providing a solid science foundation in the essential concepts, skills and vocabulary, students will have a
successful science experience.
